Hosted by the Community of Southern African Professional Astrologers (COSAPA)
Curated by Ryan Edmonds (Afrishanti Wellness)
Weave together a web of starlight and friendship with some of South Africa's most experienced astrological teachers and professionals. Join us in the peaceful rural countryside of the Western Cape's Overberg region, below the starry spring skies.
An Indaba is an isiZulu word for "a collective gathering" or "council"... it means to "Gather around". Together we will form a constellation of learning, experience, connection and embodied-wisdom - all within the context of South Africa's ancient ancestral landscape.
Karen James is the Chairperson for COSAPA.Â

As in the Skies Above - So in the Hands Below
This is a fun, relaxed and interactive session where you’ll be examining your own beautiful hands using basic 5 element chirology worksheets and comparing your findings to your natal chart as part of Karen’s research into the alignment of astrology and chirology.
Your fingers and palm mounts aka fleshy pads hold planetary keys. You’ll learn which finger and which mount represent which planet and then learn to assess the relative strength of your planetary fingers and mounts using the worksheets provided. Even Pluto, Uranus and Neptune have been given mounts by modern chirologists. After that you’ll be comparing the planetary strengths as seen in your hands to dignity of the planets in your natal chart.
The four elements of earth, water, fire and air are easily seen in your hands. Guided by worksheets, you’ll be assessing your elemental balance and looking for signs of the fifth element, ether in your hands. Then, you’ll be comparing the elemental balance of your hands to your astrological temperament as seen in your natal chart.Â
You’ll then examine your own hands for a few more cool, easy to spot hand features, including the creative curve, the angle of dexterity, the ring of Solomon and the lines of insight. These features don’t appear on all hands. If you find any of these, we’ll try to figure out how they could relate back to your natal chart.
Your worksheets will include keys so that you can apply what these simple introductory techniques to your client work as an added perspective, if you so wish.
The waltzing of planets north and south across the Celestial Equator holds many key astrological notes. We will be looking at declination rhythms of each planet and what it means for us astrologically personally and collectively, including:
The Solar dance that takes a year to complete, marks Equinoxes and Solstices and our Seasons and defines the Out of Bounds area of the sky.
What role Mar’s declination played in the devastating Western Cape fires at the start of this year.
Busy Luna’s double declination dance styles – a one-month Quickstep and a Grand 18 Year Glide that will be culminating in January 2025.
Declination traffic jamsÂ
And much more…
Kundalini Yoga kriyas (sequences) designed to help us to align to the shifts of the Age of Awareness/Aquarius. These classes are designed to be accessible to all levels of fitness and experience.Â
With a focus on gentle dynamic movement, breath, and mantra (sacred sound), Ryan will take us on a journey of the body, mind and spirit.
As we rise to greet the day, these optional classes will elevate our spirits, and connect us with the Divine.
